The Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA), whose members represent a global community of voice and speech practitioners, stands against hate and injustice in the United States and around the world. The fundamental nature of our work is centered on breath and the empowerment of voices. VASTA believes in the basic human rights to breathe, speak and live freely without the fear of racial prejudice in any form.
As an organization and as individual members, VASTA is constantly learning; we are aware of practices in our profession that have centred on a white experience and, at times, have perpetuated conscious and unconscious racism. We commit to anti-racist practice in our field and continue to seek to address the importance of diversity, while fighting issues of inequality. We strongly encourage our community to speak out in the face of racism.
